2015 Piano!
Friday, January 2, 2015 by Angie Stevens | Uncategorized
This is a reminder that regularly scheduled piano lessons will resume on Monday, January 5. I will be using the rest of the weekend to finish some home renovations.
I hope you all have had a relaxing vacation and will be ready to learn new musical skills this year. I have three teaching resolutions that I hope each of my students will take on in 2015:
- Have a clear practice routine for scales, arpeggios, chords, and technical exercises to practice each day.
- Create a "POP" list. POP is an acronym for "Play often, please." It's a list of favorite songs that are memorized and ready to play, anytime, anywhere.
- Learn improvising skills and playing by ear. We'll start slowly with this one. Younger kids are ready to figure out melodies by ear. Many older ones are ready to learn to play from a fake book or along with recordings. Some have tried this already - Let it Go and Taylor Swift are favorites.
